چکیده

We report on the results of angle-resolved photoemission experiments on a quasi-one-dimensional MX-chain compound [Ni(chxn)2Br]Br2 (chxn = 1R,2R-cyclohexanediamine), a one-dimensional Heisenberg system with S = 1/2 and J ∼ 3600 K, which shows a gigantic non-linear optical effect. A ”band” having about 500 meV energy dispersion is found in the first half of the Brillouin zone (0 ≤ kb/π < 1/2), but disappears at kb/π ∼ 1/2. Two dispersive features, expected from the spin-charge separation, as have been observed in other quasi-one-dimensional systems like Sr2CuO3, are not detected. These characteristic features are well reproduced by the d-p chain model calculations with a small charge-transfer energy ∆ compared with that of one-dimensional Cu-O based compounds. We propose that this smaller ∆ is the origin of the absence of clear spinand charge-separation in the photoemission spectra and strong non-linear optical effect in [Ni(chxn)2Br]Br2.

Angle-resolved Photoemission Study of Mx-chain Compound

We report on the results of angle-resolved photoemission experiments on a quasi-one-dimensional halogen-bridged Ni compound [Ni(chxn)2Br]Br2 (chxn = 1R,2R-cyclohexanediamine), a one-dimensional Heisenberg system with S = 1/2 and J ∼ 3600 K, which shows a gigantic non-linear optical effect. A ”band” having about 0.5 eV energy dispersion is found in the first half of the Brillouin zone (0 ≤ kb/π ...

Angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy reveals spin charge separation in metallic MoSe2 grain boundary

Material line defects are one-dimensional structures but the search and proof of electron behaviour consistent with the reduced dimension of such defects has been so far unsuccessful. Here we show using angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy that twin-grain boundaries in the layered semiconductor MoSe2 exhibit parabolic metallic bands. The one-dimensional nature is evident from a charge dens...

Temperature-dependent Luttinger surfaces.

The Luttinger surface of an organic metal (TTF-TCNQ), possessing charge order and spin-charge separated band dispersions, is investigated using temperature-dependent angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy. The Luttinger surface topology, obtained from momentum distribution curves, changes from quasi-2D (dimensional) to quasi-1D with temperature. The high temperature quasi-2D surface exhibits...

Slow magnetic relaxation in a cyano-bridged ferromagnetic {Fe(III)Ni(II)} alternating chain.

A cyano-bridged ferromagnetic {Fe(III)Ni(II)} alternating chain {[Fe(pzTp)(CN)3][Ni(chxn)2]}·ClO4·H2O (1) (pzTp = tetrakis(pyrazolyl)borate, chxn = (1R,2R)-1,2-diaminocyclohexane) was synthesized via rational design. Crystal structure analysis and magnetic studies demonstrated that compound had a one-dimensional zigzagging chain-like structure and slow magnetic relaxation.

Exchange splitting of the three Γ ̄ surface states of Ni(111) from three-dimensional spin- and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy

The valence-band electronic structure of a clean Ni(111) surface is investigated by spin-resolved photoemission. At room temperature the orientation of the photoelectron spins on the Bloch sphere and the exchange splitting of surface and bulk states along the surface normal (Γ̅ ) are determined. All investigated states are found to have a sizable exchange splitting >50 meV. Since the splitting i...
